Drop-In Fitness Classes
The Town of Aurora offers drop-in Group Fitness and Aquafitness classes that meet all skill levels throughout the year. Fitness members have access to all drop-in classes. Please visit our Fitness Centre webpage to learn more about our Group Fitness memberships.
Group Fitness & Aquafitness - Class Descriptions |
Aqua Fitness: Explore the dimensions of aquatic exercise. This low impact instructor-led exercise class is conducted in both shallow and deep water provides a moderate to high energy, total body conditioning workout. It is suitable to individuals 12 years of age and older with varying skill and fitness levels. Aqua Leisure: No instructor? No problem. This is a dedicated pool time for individuals 12 years of age and older to continue to work on their Aquafitness exercises. No instructor will be available to teach a class. Drop-in fees as listed on schedule, apply for non-members. As soon as an instructor is found, this program will revert to a regular Aquafitness class. Aqua Zumba®: Known as the Zumba® “pool party,” Aqua Zumba gives new meaning to the idea of an invigorating workout. This class takes place in our heated indoor pools. Splashing, stretching, twisting, even shouting, laughing, hooting, and hollering are often heard during an Aqua Zumba shallow water class. Integrating the Zumba formula and philosophy with traditional aqua fitness disciplines, Aqua Zumba blends it all together into a safe, challenging, water-based workout that’s cardio-conditioning, body-toning, and most of all, exhilarating beyond belief. Arthritis Aquafit: This specialty aquatic fitness class is designed for people who suffer from arthritis. The objective of the recreational exercises is to reduce pain and help maintain or increase joint mobility, muscular strength and endurance. Please pre-register. Boomer ABC’s (Abs, Balance & Conditioning): Geared to the baby boomer who has been exercising for a while, this fitness class will feature cardiovascular & muscle conditioning as well as core strengthening, balance and stretch work. Boot Camp: This class will challenge you with circuit training, weight training, ball sculpting, obstacle training, running/power walking, and improved stretching techniques. Improve your strength, conditioning, agility, and balance as well as your overall fitness. Cardio Dance: Get your groove on with Cardio Dance. This class offers a variety of dance styles and mini routines, that are easy to follow with lots of options. Work at your own intensity but most of all just have fun. Chisel: A total body muscle conditioning class that will work your body from head to toe using a variety of equipment. Suitable for all fitness levels (previously Sculpt or Body Sculpt). Cyclefit: Build stamina, burn fat, and strengthen your lower body. Cyclefit offers a challenge to participants from beginner to athlete. Ride your way to improved fitness. Muscle Fusion 55+: A fun dynamic class that combines strength, agility, balance, and core exercises to improve your functional fitness. NIA (Neuromuscular Integrative Action): Neuromuscular Integrative Action encompasses the best of dance, martial arts, yoga and healing arts philosophies from the East and West. Osteo Fitness: This one-hour class uses weight-bearing activities with light weight training to improve and maintain your bone density and fitness level. PiYo®: This is a unique class designed to build strength & gain flexibility. The moves fit perfectly together to form a class filled with intense choreography that’s fun, challenging and will make you sweat. It’s about energy, power, and rhythm. Participants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat (if available). P90X: This class is a training system which highlights the principle of "muscle confusion” and complex moves (combining muscle groups). Choreographed to music, moves are timed so that participants can do as many repetitions of the move as they are capable, working at their own pace with the fun of being in a group. RIP®: A barbell program for men and women of all ages. The routines cater to all fitness levels by keeping it simple with athletic movements such as squats, lunges, chest presses, and bicep curls. Step: Join us for an energetic cardio class using a step platform that includes choreographed patterns and movements for both cardiovascular and lower body conditioning. A great way to tone and define your legs and glutes, while getting a full body workout. Sunrise Yoga: Start your day out right with a good stretch and a calm mind. Gradually warm the body and awaken the mind in this energizing class. Designed with Hatha Yoga principles, this class is suitable for all fitness levels. Sunrise Yoga will give you energy and focus to last throughout your day. Total Body Strength Conditioning: Focus of this class is to build overall muscle strength including, improved cardiovascular health, bone density, joint stability and metabolic rate. Regular strength training is recommended for people of all ages and fitness levels to help prevent the natural loss of lean muscle mass that comes with aging. Suitable for all fitness levels and abilities Yoga Fitness: This class is a combination of traditional Vinyasa and Hatha yoga style practices that connect the body, breath and mind. It uses physical postures, breathing exercises and meditation to help reduce stress, create mind-body awareness and improve overall health. Vinyasa style is a creative form of yoga where poses are linked together with the breath in a flowing movement sequence. Vinyasa yoga uses varied movement sequences, so the style, pace and intensity vary in every class and participants are able to move at their own pace. Hatha yoga is a slower practice, where poses are held for longer breath cycles, a great practice for beginners and for individuals who want a more gentle practice. Participants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat (if available). Yoga Fusion: Are you feeling stressed and overwhelmed? Do you want to build mental strength and bring calmness to your day? Start your morning with our Yoga Fusion class. This class will lift your mood, help you to get into better shape and improve your well-being by reducing stress and anxiety, developing more mindfulness and promoting better sleep. Fluid conscious movements, breathing exercises, physical relaxation and guided meditation will help you find more peace and focus on just a few minutes, restoring your energy for the rest of the day. Participants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat (if available). Yoga Stretch: This class is for those who want to improve their overall flexibility, relieve the day’s stress and leave feeling relaxed. This class focuses on basic stretching techniques and does not specifically follow the Hatha, Ashtanga, Iyengar or Vinyasa principles. Hatha Yoga classes can be found in the current issue of the Community Services Program Guide. Participants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat (if available). Zumba® Fitness: This class fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow dance moves to create a dynamic work out that will blow you away! |

Club Aurora is currently offering a variety of group fitness classes for all ages and fitness levels. All classes are taught at a level that is suitable for beginner, intermediate and advanced participants. Refer to class descriptions for further details.

What to Expect in a Fitness Class as a Drop-In Participant |
All Group Fitness and Aquafitness classes start at the designated published time. Any participant who arrives after the start of the class will not be allowed to participate.

Fitness members have all-you-can-play access to all drop-in classes. Fitness members also have the additional perks when registering for Fitness classes.

How to Cancel a Group Fitness or Aquafitness Class Booking |
Members who booked a spot however can no longer attend the Group Fitness or Aquafitness Class will be required to use one (1) of the cancellation options below prior to the start of the program.
In efforts to maximize the opportunity for fitness members and participants to participate in the Town of Aurora fitness drop-in programs, members who do not attend their pre-registered spot in a drop-in group fitness class will be contacted by the Town of Aurora by phone or email, and future re-offences may lead to membership suspension or cancellation. Those with suspended or cancelled membership will be removed from any remaining pre-registered spots where it will allow more opportunities for others to participate. |
