Aurora has placed a number of in-ground concrete containers that will hold dog waste around our parks and trails. These large capacity containers are installed below ground where the depth allows for cooler conditions and no direct sunlight, eliminating odours, maximizing capacity and reducing required frequency of service.
The above ground structure has a small hole that allows for people to drop their dog waste into it.
The waste will be collected through our Green for Life (GFL) Environmental contract and the waste will be accepted through York Region’s green collection program diverting waste from the landfill.
The containers are installed in designated parks and trails and located near an accessible paved surface and will be highly visible to pet owners.
