Aurora Town Council Adopts Budget 2025
On Thursday, November 28, Aurora Town Council adopted the Town’s multi-year operating budgets for 2025 and 2026, along with the 10-Year Capital Plan, reflecting a commitment to maintaining high-quality services while investing in key infrastructure projects to support Aurora’s growth and sustainability.
The approved tax-levy increase for 2025 is 3.5 per cent and 2.9 per cent for 2026. For an average home assessed at $800,000, this translates to an annual increase of $87.52 in 2025 and $75.05 in 2026. These increases include a one per cent rise in capital reserve contributions, ensuring Aurora’s long-term financial strength and its ability to fund significant community projects.

Time: 6:00 p.m. Where: Council Chambers Agenda: Aurora’s community partners will present their budgets to Budget Committee. The community partners include: Central York Fire Services, Aurora Public Library, Aurora Historical Society, Aurora Sports Hall of Fame, Sport Aurora and Aurora Cultural Centre. If needed, further review of the departmental operating and capital budget will continue. |

All Council budget amendments to the Mayor’s proposed budget are due to the Clerk by end of the day. |
Budget Review – Monday, November 25, 2024 |
Time: 6:00 p.m. Where: Council Chambers Agenda: Special Council meeting to discuss/decide upon proposed amendments to the Mayor’s budget (if required). Under the strong mayor powers legislation, the Mayor will then have up to 10 days to veto any amendments approved by Council. Council can subsequently override the Mayor’s veto with a 2/3 majority vote up to 15 days after the veto is made. |
