Fire ban lifted for Aurora and Newmarket

With the improving weather conditions, Central York Fire Services (CYFS) has lifted the temporary fire ban put in place on June 6.
Although the ban has been lifted, CYFS asks residents to continue to practice fire safety when having a fire outdoors.
If you are using an outdoor flame of any type, remember to:
- Follow local rules including time of day, distance from items that can burn and fire size
- Fires are not allowed between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m.
- Fire must be at least 4 metres (13 feet) from your home...

Fire ban in effect in Aurora and Newmarket

Effective immediately, a total fire ban has been issued in Aurora and Newmarket and will be issued across York Region by local Fire Chiefs. This ban is necessary given the current forest fires in Ontario and Quebec, the hot and dry conditions which can cause fire to spread fast and the deteriorating air-quality.

High Fire Hazard Rating in Effect in York Region
The current local fire hazard rating is high due to the hot and dry conditions. Central York Fire Services (CYFS) asks residents of Newmarket and Aurora to use extra caution when using fire outdoors, including outdoor firepits, open air burning or wood fired BBQs.
