The Town of Aurora on Tuesday evening welcomed in its newly-elected members of council at the Inaugural Meeting for the 2022-2026 Council term.
“It has been my honour to serve on Aurora Town Council for the past eight years and I’m excited for the opportunity to continue to serve as mayor. I look forward to working together with councillors to collaborate and move forward the priorities of our community and to get things done,” said Mayor Tom Mrakas.
Every four years, a newly-elected Mayor and Council are sworn into office at the Inaugural Meeting for the new Council term. In addition to the Administration of the Oath of Office for all council members, the Inaugural Meeting also featured an inaugural address by Mayor Mrakas and greetings from councillors.
With the Town switching to a ward system in the 2022 municipal election, residents voted for a mayor and one ward councillor. Below is a list of the elected officials who were sworn in on Tuesday night:

- Ward 2 Councillor Rachel Gilliland
- Ward 3 Councillor Wendy Gaertner
- Ward 4 Councillor Michael Thompson

The next meeting of Mayor and Council will be General Committee on December 6 at 7 p.m., followed by Council on December 13 at 7 p.m.
