IIHF Women’s World Championship Pre-Tournament Game is coming to Aurora on April 2!
The Town of Aurora is set to host a pre-tournament game to some of the world’s top female hockey teams! The 2023 IIHF Women’s World Championship Pre-Tournament Game is coming to Aurora with Teams Sweden and Switzerland facing off on Sunday, April 2 at the Aurora Community Centre.
In mid-January, the Town entered a bid to be considered as one of the local community locations to host the IIHF women’s pre-tournament training camp and exhibition game. We are pleased to be an official stop on their pathway to the championship!
To celebrate this pre-tournament game, the Town is committed to providing some exciting opportunities for the community to enjoy including:
- Participate in a free skate on Saturday, March 18 at the Stronach Aurora Recreation Complex from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Pfaff arena.
- Attend a free open practice, where you can watch Team Sweden practice their hockey skills and sign autographs for the community on Saturday, April 1at the Aurora Community Centre in the McAlpine Lincoln Arena. Open practice is from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by an autograph session from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
- Buy tickets to watch the Pre-Tournament Game on Sunday, April 2 at Aurora Community Centre in the Lincoln Ford Arena. Team Sweden vs. Team Switzerland. The puck drop is at
2 p.m. Doors open at 12:30 p.m.
