The Town of Aurora invites residents to embark on a journey of creativity and community during Culture Days from September 22 to October 15. This exciting 3-week interactive arts and culture event will offer a variety of free in-person and online programs, exhibits and more.

“Our community is delighted to once again host the annual Culture Days programming. This is an opportunity to invite residents to experience, appreciate and celebrate the roots of our Town and the diversity within it,” said Mayor Tom Mrakas. “We are proud to officially proclaim Culture Days from September 22 to October 15 and support an inclusive cultural identity in Aurora.”

Thank you to our local partners for their support and vision in creating the programming for Culture Days: Aurora Cultural Centre, Aurora Farmers’ Market, Aurora Film Circuit, Aurora Historical Society, Aurora Museum & Archives, Aurora Public Library, Aurora Seniors Association, Aurora Sports Hall of Fame, Marquee Theatrical Productions, Music Aurora, Pine Tree Potters’ Guild, Society of York Region Artists, and Theatre Aurora.

Check out some of the exciting Culture Days events listed below.

September 23 – Aurora’s Multicultural Festival, Town Park, 49 Wells Street, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Aurora’s Multicultural Festival will be the kick off event to start off this celebration of culture. This event will feature free cultural performances and programming by our local Culture Day partners.

September 24 - Biogra TREE by Shadowpath, Hillary House Garden, 15372 Yonge Street, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Shadowpath tells their 20-year story by way of tree art with their new theatrical installation - BiograTREE. This grassroots performing arts company reveals all, via fabric wrapping, symbolic object hanging and good vibrations.

September 25 - Camp Retrospective: A Journey Through Young Artistry, Aurora Cultural Centre, 100 John West Way, Aurora Town Hall, 3rd floor, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Monday – Saturday).
This exhibition features artwork by the talented young artists of the centre’s 2023 Summer Camps. It is located on the 3rd floor of Aurora Town Hall and runs from September 25 to October 14.

September 30 – Multiple events
Tangent – Rockin’ for Reconciliation. Aurora Legion, 105 Industrial Parkway North, 7:30 p.m.
Live music by a local hometown band - Tangent. Ticket proceeds will go to the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund.

Raku in the Park by Pine Tree Potters’ Guild – Town Park, 49 Wells Street, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pine Tree members will distribute tea lights for the first 100 participants. Choose and glaze a piece of pottery and watch it being fired in a Raku kiln. Once it has cooled, you can clean it up and take it home, complete with the tea light candle. Quantities are limited.
