Incident Type: Residential Fire

Date: April 3, 2025 Time of Call: 4:30 a.m. Ward: 5

Address / location of incident: Conover Avenue, Aurora

Description: Central York Fire Services (CYFS) responded to a residential fire. The first arriving CYFS unit reported residents self-evacuating and smoke and fire coming from the garage area.

Fire crews pulled an attach line to extinguish the garage fire. One of the bay doors was open and forceable entry was not required.

Cause of incident: Electrical malfunction

Casualties / Injuries: No injuries.

Community Impact: The intersection of Conover Avenue and Brooks Avenue was closed but has since reopened.

Current Status: CYFS has fully extinguished the fire.

Resources Used: CYFS responded with six trucks, one incident commander and one senior officer for a total of 25 personnel. CYFS worked in collaboration with York Regional Police, York Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and other local utilities.

Fire Safety Tips: When a fire occurs, the top priority is to get outside. If possible, when you leave, close the door behind you to help contain the fire. Then, meet at a designated safe spot outside.
