Incident Type: Structure Fire

Address / location of incident: Beechbrooke Way, Aurora

Description: Central York Fire Services (CYFS) responded a report of a structure fire. The first arriving CYFS unit reported a small, detached home with smoke and fire showing. The unit was unoccupied.

CYFS crews deployed handlines to extinguish the fire and to protect the adjacent houses. The structural integrity of the house had been compromised by the fire and the home suffered significant damage.

Cause of incident: The cause of the incident is under investigation.

Casualties / Injuries: No injuries to report.

Community Impact: Beechbrooke Way was closed for the duration of the incident.

Current Status: CYFS has fully extinguished the fire.

Resources Used: CYFS responded with six fire apparatus, 24 firefighters, a one Chief Officer. CYFS worked in collaboration with Richmond Hill Fire, York Regional Police and EMS.
