The Town of Aurora is pleased to announce a new partnership with AccessNow, a Canadian-based organization that focuses on improving accessibility for people with disabilities.
The partnership aims to verify the accessibility of the Town's main facilities, including Aurora Town Hall, Joint Operation Centre and our recreation and community centres, using the AccessNow online platform.
“The Town of Aurora has a strong commitment to identifying and removing accessibility barriers for all residents and visitors,” said Aurora Mayor Tom Mrakas. Our partnership with AccessNow is an important step towards ensuring that our facilities meet the accessibility standards and needs of the community."
The verification process will begin in the coming weeks and staff aim to have the verification process completed by the end of May.
Once the results are finalized, the information will be available on the AccessNow website and users can share their accessibility experiences on various locations within the Town. Feedback from the application will help identify areas for improvement and further enhance accessibility for all residents.
