Aurora Goes Live with Verified Town Facilities on the AccessNow App during National Accessibility Week
The Town of Aurora has verified many municipal facilities on the AccessNow platform that provides accessibility information to individuals with disabilities looking to access Town facilities.
AccessNow is a user-friendly app that allows users to search for and locate accessible facilities in their community such as parking, entrances, washrooms, and more. This empowers individuals with disabilities to make informed decisions about where to go and what to do.
“We are pleased to bring this platform forward to the community during National Accessibility week,” said Aurora Mayor Tom Mrakas. “A huge priority at the Town is eliminating barriers for all residents and visitors, and this partnership strengthens our commitment to provide a more inclusive and welcoming community for all.”
To date, Aurora Town Hall, Aurora Seniors’ Centre, Stronach Aurora Recreation Complex, Petch House, Aurora Family Leisure Complex, Aurora Joint Operations Centre, Aurora Community Centre, and Lind Realty Team Sports Dome have all been verified on the AccessNow platform. Staff will continue to work with the company to have all our main municipal facilities, parks and trails verified in the years to come.
To access the app, simply download AccessNow from your app store and create an account. Once logged in, you can search for the Town of Aurora and view all the verified municipal facilities in the area. Users can search for a location such as a facility, restaurant, hotel or park and the app will display a list of accessible options in your area.
