The Story of Aurora

We know that Indigenous People have called this land home since time immemorial; this was, and still is, Indigenous land.

European settlement of Aurora began in the late 18th century and historical records contain detailed accounts of the increase in settlement, industrialization, and development from that point onward.

From humble beginnings as "Machell's Corners", to becoming a consistent and central gathering place in York Region, learn about the many events and milestones that led to the creation of the Town of Aurora we know today.
