While major Capital Campaign comes to an end, community members can still be part of project’s legacy by joining the ongoing Community Campaign.
The Town of Aurora has surpassed its goal of raising $5 million from community members and businesses for Aurora Town Square, the recently opened arts and culture facility in the heart of downtown.
“We simply couldn’t have completed the Town Square project without the financial support of many
community members and businesses, and I sincerely thank all of them for their incredible generosity,” said Aurora Mayor Tom Markas, “Town Square is going to foster a distinct arts and culture scene in Aurora, drive local tourism and help revitalize our downtown core. And our donors are now part of a legacy of true community building that will have a profound and lasting impact on our town and residents.”
While the Town’s major Capital Campaign for Town Square – which sought donations of $50,000 and above – is now officially over, the Town is still seeking donations of $10,000 and above through its Community Campaign.
“While we’ve finished the project, the reality is that there is still a substantial cost in maintaining the facility and securing world-class entertainment over the coming months and years,” said Phil Rose, Manager of Cultural Services for the Town of Aurora. “And that’s precisely why we’re hoping more people in the community, who really do see the long-term value of this project, will join our Community Campaign and leave a legacy that will last for decades.”
All donors who pledge over $10,000 (over a period of up to five years) will secure distinct recognition and inclusion on a stunning donor wall in the beautiful TFP Aurora Developments Atrium in Town Square. This exquisitely designed donor recognition installation prominently highlights Town Square donors for patrons and visitors to see every time they enter or exit the building.
Town Square officially opened its doors to the public on September 21, kicking off a three-weeks long Grand Opening celebration of live music and theatre, film premiers and art installations that will run until October 13. The facility features 32,000-square-feet of indoor space, including the Davide DeSimone Performance Hall on behalf of Royalpark Homes, and a 29,000-square-foot outdoor square now named the Mirkopoulos Plateia (plaza) after a Capital Campaign donor.
